North American Coal mines and markets steam and metallurgical coal for use in power generation and steel production and provides selected value-added mining services for other natural resources companies. The company operates eight surface coal mining operations and has four additional coal mines under development

North American Coal also provides dragline mining services operating under the name "North American Mining Company" for independently owned limerock quarries in Florida

Market Position
North American Coal is among the ten largest coal producers in the United States (as of December 31, 2012). Coal is delivered from developed mines to adjacent or nearby power plants in North Dakota, Texas, Mississippi and Alabama
