NACCO History

NACCO dates back to 1913 with the incorporation of The Cleveland & Western Coal Company

  • Name changed to The North American Coal Corporation in 1925 (Operated exclusively in the coal industry for the next 60 years, through 1985)
  • Name changed to NACCO Industries, Inc. in 1986 with creation of new holding company
  • Entered the lift truck industry in 1985-1989 (Through acquisition of Hyster and Yale)
  • Entered the housewares industry in 1988-1990 (Through acquisition of WearEver-ProctorSilex, Kitchen Collection, and subsequent merger with Hamilton Beach)
